A New Way to Vape–the world’s first vaping system with a removable mouthpiece that prevents dust and leakage.

In 2018, SideChef was looking to unify and strengthen its brand identity for all segments of SideChef, which included a new branch of original content—Culinary Studio.

The core of SideChef was to be an approachable, hip, and stylish, end-to-end platform for cooking, but we lacked a strong visual identity to carry this message.

With the shortcomings of current vaping devices, we sought to re-imagine the experience for those looking for a healthier alternative to cigarettes.
After conducting and analyzing diary studies of daily vapers, we were able to pinpoint the areas in which we could make a real difference in the vape market. Usually, devices were bulky, heavy, and required a lot of maintenance to continuously use day-to-day. We discovered that users wanted the anonymity of being a vaper, which was a different social standpoint from a smoker. We referenced fountain pens and kept the size small enough to keep discreetly in your pocket.
Due to the current vape devices build, they were easy to misfire in pockets, lint got into the mouthpiece, and prone to leaking. To solve the leaking and dust issue, a “click” mechanism was developed to be able to open the smoking valve only when users open the vape and inhale. This mechanism also eradicated any buttons so there would never be any chance of accidentally firing the device.
