Through working with the Ambi team, we found that their existing design lacked design refinement causing user skepticism about the product's effectiveness. Due to its look, users were inclined to hide the device, reducing its connectivity and further reducing its effectiveness.
We re-imagined the Ambi Climate as an object that could fit seamlessly into a home. We wanted a look that communicated reliability while staying true to Ambi’s Asian roots.
We created two new directions and interviewed users to gather insights. Our hypothesis was that material impacted the perception of quality was validated. People connected wood with keywords such as “homey” and “furniture” while polished metal was connected with “hi-tech” and “smart”.
In the end, we proceeded with the design that resonated the most with our desired product identity.
